Lauren Price and Leanna Price, twenty-one-year old* twin sisters from Sardis, Ohio, love and perform traditional bluegrass music, particularly the music in the style and influence of Bill Monroe and his Bluegrass Boys.  Around the age of three, the girls began singing.  They soon learned harmony singing and joined their parents, singing at home and at family gatherings.  They also enjoyed singing at local talent competitions, and around nine years of age, began music lessons; mandolin for Lauren, and fiddle for Leanna.  It wasn’t long until they were performing locally and regionally as “The Price Family.”  Over the years they continued to perform, and also, as time permitted, attend music camps and workshops, providing them with valuable experience and instruction from some of bluegrass’ top performers.  They have been able to secure scholarship funding for such workshops and camps as The Augusta Heritage Festival, and International Bluegrass Music Museum Monroe Mandolin Camp. They were successful scholarship candidates for both the 2012 and 2013 Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival (OIBF), which led to their performing at that festival in Guthrie, Oklahoma.  This year, 2014, they competed with approximately 20 other college-age students, and were two of four successful students to receive scholarship funding from the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival in Oak Hill, New York, where they were invited to perform on the festival’s main stage.  Lauren and Leanna - The Price Sisters - have continued to hone their musical talents, performing at festivals from Michigan to Georgia, and Oklahoma to Maine and recording with Grammy award winner Mike Compton, and former Bluegrass Boy, Byron Berline.  The Price Sisters have made three yearly appearances on RFD-TV’s Cumberland Highlanders Show from Rosine, Kentucky, and have been featured performers at the 2014 Bean Blossom Festival, in Indiana. At Bean Blossom, they also taught beginner mandolin and fiddle students at that festival’s  “Bluegrass Bootcamp.”  They have been guest performers on Dale Ann Bradley and Steve Gulley’s Cumberland Mountain Music Show, from Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, have also performed on live radio broadcasts including the legendary Wheeling Jamboree, Wheeling West Virginia, and Ohio University’s WOUB radio program, Showcase Showdown.  They recently participated in live performances and recordings of Song of the Mountains, in Marion, Virginia, and Lexington, Kentucky-based WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour, including a live television taping on Lexington’s WKYT-TV.  In addition, they have been on-stage guest performers with various nationally-known recording bands including the Lost and Found Bluegrass Band, The Spinney Brothers, and David Davis and the Warrior River Boys.  While they continue to travel and perform the bluegrass music they love, Lauren and Leanna are college sophomores, each pursuing a degree in music, with concentration in bluegrass and traditional music, at Morehead State University, Morehead, Kentucky.
