My name is Danisha Melanson-Comeau, born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1997. At the young age of 18 months, I experienced my first bluegrass festival in Memramcook N.B. along with my grandparents. I loved it! Seeing how much I loved the bluegrass music, my grandparents decided they would bring me along to other festivals, each and every one they attended. We attended as many as 10 - 15 every summer and made so many new friends. By the age of 7, there I was on stage with The Bluegrass Diamonds- hundreds of people in the audience to sing and play guitar in front of, my family and friends all applauding. I loved it and my grandmother even shed tears of joy. I've had the pleasure of either jamming or going on stage with such wonderful musicians as Goldwing Express, Rhonda Vincent, Janet McGarry and Wildwood, Special Consensus and Next Best Thing along with many others. At that moment, I decided how amazing it would be to have all these great musicians' autographs. I would take pictures and start a binder with everyone's autograph- wonderful memories! My binder has over 100 autographs of full bands throughout the year. Promoting bands and great musicians then became one of my past times. I assembled a Facebook Group together where I posted all the videos and pictures of each band I met and loved. This group is called, "I Love Bluegrass Music <3" and now consists of 1,450 members! In the years 2011- 2013, I got nominated for promoter of the year at The Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Awards Show. In 2014, I was congratulated on all my hard work and won this amazing surprise. It feels amazing to be appreciated by so many wonderful people.
