Collins Miller, from Arab, Alabama is a serious traditional banjo player with a powerful right hand, big smile, big heart, and an infectious personality that you will not forget.  Collins was raised in a musical family, never knowing anything other than what it was like to have music constantly there.  From his Great-Grandfather, master craftsman and luthier, the late Arlin Moon of Holly Pond, Alabama, down to his Mother, Tina Miller, award winning fiddle player and lead singer of popular Bluegrass Gospel group Canaan’s Crossing, the music is simply in his blood.  Collins is currently the full time banjo player for that Bluegrass Gospel group, Canaan’s Crossing.  During his tenure with the group since 2014, he has travelled many miles, played on many stages, met many people, but above all been greatly blessed by God in every way.  Collins is a highly accomplished banjo player already in his early career.  Although he is certainly not an avid contestant in banjo contests, he did enter and win the 2013 Alabama State Banjo Championship.  In 2015 while serving as banjo player for Canaan’s Crossing, they were nominated for SPBGMA traditional Bluegrass Gospel group of the year.  When you hear Collins play the banjo, you will hear a collection of different styles but one thing that will stand out and best describes him in a word is “powerful”.  His musical influences are deep and a long list but his main banjo influences are Earl Scruggs, Don Reno, J.D. Crowe, Sonny Osborne Kenny Ingram, Bill Emerson, Jim Mills, and Charlie Cushman.  Collins is also very active in his Church and his local FFA chapter.  Collins’ goal is to be a main stage performer in every way, a household name among banjo players, and to bring the robust powerful Bluegrass sound of the deep South to the rest of the country.  So keep your eyes and ears open for this name, Collins Miller, because you will see and hear a whole lot more of him in the next several years.
